 ZIMMERMAN, DAVID W. Dave Zimmerman of Clearwater, Florida, passed away peacefully with loved ones around him on Jan. 23, after a long struggle with COPD. David was born in Traverse City on Sept. 28, 1947 to the late Jack W. and JoAnne M. Zimmerman. David spent much of his teen years traveling the world on safaris with his grandfather, Louis W. Zimmerman. Their trips were designed to collect mammal exhibits, which are still on display at the Michigan State University Museum. David was also one of the youngest members of the very exclusive Shikar Safari Club International, and he was also a member of the Michigan Polar-Equator Club. David’s desire for knowledge led him to study at Albion College, Michigan State University and Logan College of Chiropractic, where he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic. His passion for his profession was so great that he went on to obtain many different certifications and accreditations such as acupuncture and homeopathic medicine. In addition to his adventurous and inquisitive nature, David also possessed a compassion for others. In his 30-plus years of owning a chiropractic practice he not only improved his patients’ health, but he took a genuine interest in many of their lives. It was not uncommon for patients to drop by the clinic simply to share a funny joke, a child’s picture or good news with their friend, “Doc.” The only thing David loved more than experiencing his own adventures was hearing of the ones experienced by others he knew. David is survived by his son, Robert W. (Sheryl) Zimmerman; companion, Carol Zimmerman; sisters, Lindy Graff and Shawna (Rick) Zimmerman; brother, JC (Kathy) Zimmerman; aunt, Mary Jean Rettmann; and several cousins and nieces and nephews, including second cousins, Joe and Jim Zimmerman.  Besides his parents, David was also preceded in death by grandfather, Louis W. Zimmerman; and his aunt, Jane Ann (Jerry) Oliver. Cremation has already taken place and a private family service was held in the spring. Posted By: Administrator - 08-06-2015 Views: 3093 |
