BEITNER, DUANE HOWARD

Duane Howard Beitner, 61, of Traverse City, peacefully entered the presence of God, Monday afternoon, July 28, 2008, at Munson Medical Center. Born Oct. 5, 1946, he was the son of Dean G. and Virginia V. (St. John) Beitner.

Duane was a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church of Traverse City.

Together with his sister, Deanna, they enjoyed the company of their pet dog, Betsy, who just recently passed away.

Duane, like his sister, Deanna, will most be remembered for the years that they delivered the Grand Rapids Press-USA throughout the Grand Traverse area.

A honorably discharged veteran, Duane proudly served his country with the United States Navy.

He enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage and was an avid Tiger fan.
Duane will fondly be thought of for his loyalty to his only sibling, Deanna, who died on Dec. 30, 2007.

He is survived by his loving and caring mother, Virginia V. Beitner and her friend, Ray Schroeder, both of Traverse City.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Mansfield officiated. Graveside services were held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

In remembrance of Duane, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church or to the Cherryland Humane Society.
