Lannin, Danny K.

Danny K. Lannin, age 76, passed away on March 18, 2024, after an 18-month battle with abdominal cancer. He passed at his home in St. Ignace, Michigan and was surrounded his family. Fiercely just, loyal, and self-sufficient, Danny was a force for good in the world, and he will be dearly missed.
Danny was born in November 1947 in Traverse City, Michigan to Elizabeth “Bonnie” Lannin (born Donkers) and Anthony “Tony” Lannin, who worked together on their family business in sheet metal and ductwork. He grew up with an older sister, Nancy, and a younger brother, Mike (name later changed to James). Danny attended the Norris School, where he had a close-knit class, and later the local High School. After some community college, he attended Michigan State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
After working for a few years as an engineer at RCA in New Jersey, Danny went to dental school at University of Detroit, where he obtained his D.D.S. He moved to Ringe, New Hampshire, where he owned his own dental practice. In New Hampshire, he met Anne (born Burke), where they married, and had two sons, Benjamin and Timothy. A devoted and loving father and active member of the community, Danny coached rec league basketball, made telescopes as a hobby, played computer games, and always had a home improvement project he was working on.
Suffering some health concerns, Danny retired early from dentistry. He parted ways with Anne, and moved to St. Ignace, Michigan, where he married Patricia (formerly Shiemke), a marriage filled with love. He helped raise Patricia’s two youngest children, Jaici and Kaiden, through teenage years, and take care of the family’s many chickens, goats, dogs, cats, and birds.
There will not be a funeral or other services, rather, Danny’s life will be remembered privately by his family.
Family Life Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be left to the family at www.familylifefh.com.
