Richard grew up on a farm near Long Lake, where early mornings and hard work shaped his steadfast character. He dedicated over forty years to the medical field as a cardiovascular nurse specialist, earning the trust and gratitude of countless patients and colleagues. For Richard, nursing wasn’t just a job—it was a calling, fueled by compassion and care.
Beyond the hospital, Richard discovered his voice as a writer. His novels, including Remarkable and its Big Bay sequels, introduced readers to rich characters and vivid talesinspired by his Michigan roots and Key West adventures. His prose brimmed with humor, heart, and the wisdom of a man who found stories in every corner of life.
A firm believer that kindness always wins, he approached every challenge with an openheart and quiet determination. His ambition touched everything he pursued—whether running countless miles, putting on golden gloves as a lightweight boxer, serving his community as a volunteer firefighter, or speaking of God as “Our Eternal Daddy.” He had the unshakable faith of someone who lived by love above all else.
Richard is survived by the great love of his life, Debra Hall, their five incredible children—Lindsey Chan (Jim), Angela Watson, Robert Hall (Tina), Kaylee Bisel (Jake), and Lane Hall (John)—along with 10 adored grandchildren and a host of family members, friends, and fans.
His life is a testament to how a farm boy’s dreams can cultivate bestsellers, a nurse’shands can heal hearts, and a storyteller’s words can leave an indelible mark on the world.
